Service User and Carer Council

Service User and Carer Councils

Our Mission

To ensure that service users and carers are central to everything we do-through meaningful involvement, co-production, and shared decision-making. We follow NHS England's guidance on working in partnership with people and communities.

What is the Council?

The Service User and Carer Council is a Trust-wide forum that brings together people with lived experience of mental health and learning disability services-whether as service users, carers, or family members. We work together to shape, improve and influence the services provided by Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust (NSFT).

Who can join?

Anyone with lived experience of NSFT services-either as a service user or carer. We welcome people from all backgrounds and communities. Your insight matters.

Biographies

Tallia Langston, Co-Chair (interim)

Tallia Langston portrait photoI am committed to championing the voices of people with lived experience and their families and carers to better the offerings of our mental health services.

I am bringing my experience to the role as co-chair of the Trust-wide Service User and Carer Council as a former governor of the Trust, and a current vice co-chair of an independent board in adult social care services in Norfolk and a tenant board member and sub-committee member in social housing.

More importantly though, I am bringing my lived experience having been under mental health, social and physical healthcare services throughout my life. My disability saw me pause my professional career in primary education, but while on my return-to-work journey I have become increasingly passionate about finding creative and inclusive ways to drive improvements.

It is vital that our communities have their trust reinstated in our mental health services. I will ensure that service users and carers are at the centre of services, and that their voices are heard through every channel of NSFT.
