One-page profiles

One-page profiles/student passports are a simple summary of things that are important to the young person and how they want to be supported.

They are there to help the young person receive more person-centred care and support to achieve their goals.

They give key information about the young person, including their likes, dislikes, favourite things and how teachers can help them if they are finding something difficult.

One-page profiles include:

  • What's important to you
  • Things people like and admire about you
  • How best to support you

You can add other information to one-page profiles.  When this happens, the document may have a different name such as student passport.

Other information could include:

  • What you like to be called
  • What you are good at and what is more difficult for you
  • How to best communicate with you
  • Health information
  • Any reasonable adjustments that you need
  • Information and contact details for other people that support you

Sharing information in this way can be useful to:

  • Tell people about you and what is important to you
  • Help people to get to know you
  • Share information about yourself when you go somewhere new for example a new club, school or job.

How they help when supporting people?

  • Can be used during transitions to help new settings understand the young person
  • Puts the young person at the heart of their learning experience
  • Gives the young person the opportunity to tell you their own preferences and learning needs
