Statement: Moving to County Hall

Outside of the front of Hellesdon Hospital

Cath Byford, Chief People Officer and Deputy Chief Executive said: “We are in the early stages of developing plans to relocate some of our office-based staff from the upper plateau of our Hellesdon Hospital site to County Hall in Norwich.

“The current Victorian office building from which staff are moving is not cost effective to maintain or fit for purpose. Those staff moving to County Hall will benefit from a modern working environment, and good transport links. We are engaging with staff who are affected by the moves.

“There are no plans to move any of our clinical services or patient contacts to County Hall.

“We expect moves to County Hall will start from late-summer.

“The move will also enable closer working with system partners at County Hall including the Council and Norfolk and Waveney Integrated Care Board.”

Notes to editors:

  • The Victorian buildings currently used for office space cost around £3 million to run and maintain each year.
  • Communication between office-based staff and those providing our clinical services will not be affected as hybrid working relationships are already in place as a result of the pandemic changing the way we work together.
  • We have over 50 bases across Norfolk and Suffolk offering specialist mental health in community and inpatient settings for a population of 1.6million people.
  • The types of office-based staff earmarked to move to County Hall are HR, finance and performance teams
