Recognition for learning disability staff in regional awards
Staff from NSFT have been recognised for their hard work in regional learning disability awards run by NHS England.
The Adult Learning Disability Community Team (Waveney) Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust was named runner-up in the Learning Disability Team of the Year and Ian Duncan, from that team, was runner-up in the Support Worker of the Year award.
The awards we announced on Learning Disability Nurses Day on Friday (1 November), at an awards ceremony, which was part of a wider event being held at Victoria House in Fulbourn, Cambridge, by the regional workforce, training and education team at NHS England .
The team award acknowledges and celebrates an “exceptional team who are committed to delivering an excellent service to people with learning disabilities or people with autism and their families”.
NSFT’s nomination said: “The Adult Learning Disability Mental Health team has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to compassion-focused care, improving mental health outcomes, and fostering independence for their clients.”
One of the standout aspects of the team’s work was their innovative and creative approach to service delivery, including mindfulness gardening, self-esteem groups, wellbeing walks and coping skills development.”
The support worker award recognised the “crucial role of the support worker in providing high-quality support for people with a learning disability and/or autism”.
The nomination for Ian, a Senior Clinical Support Worker, talked about “extraordinary commitment, empathy, and tireless efforts in improving the lives of individuals he supports”.
“What sets Ian apart is his ability to adapt his approach to each individual’s needs while creating a nurturing and positive environment. Colleagues and clients alike are quick to highlight his compassion, fun personality and unwavering commitment to delivering high-quality care.”
