Bid to improve mental health support in Suffolk by bringing together voluntary organisations in new forum
A young mother with lived experience of mental health issues, who founded a charity to help other new parents, is inviting voluntary organisations to a newly-created Suffolk forum next month.
In her new role as Engagement Officer for Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust (NSFT), Naomi Farrow is keen to bring together voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations which operate in adult mental health.
Naomi, who set up Get Me Out The Four Walls in 2015 to ensure that no parent feels alone at home after the birth of their child, said: “Having founded a charity myself, I can’t put into words how passionate I am about the VCSE sector and its contribution to mainstream healthcare.
“Now that I wear a slightly different hat and am working for the NHS, I am even more keen to make sure that the voluntary sector has a place in both patients’ and carers’ care when it comes to adult mental health in Suffolk.”
She added: “The primary goal of this meeting is to ensure we deliver the best possible outcomes for our service users and carers through creating and building on the partnerships between NSFT and the VCSE sector.”
The forum will also:
- Give groups the chance to learn more about the services within the Trust
- Include regular service updates
- Create opportunities for organisations to showcase the work they are doing in the community
- Provide networking opportunities
The first virtual meeting of the new Suffolk Adult (25+) Mental Health VCSE Forum will be held on Microsoft Teams on Wednesday, 7 October, between 11am and 1pm.
