Two new board appointments for Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust

Two vision driven directors are joining Suffolk and Norfolk’s mental health trust.

Nurse Thandie Matambanadzo, who has over 22 years’ experience of working in senior operational roles in mental health, community and acute Trusts, will join as Chief Operating Officer in May 2022. She is currently the Director of Nursing for System and Professional Development in the South East region for NHS England & Improvement.

Thandie said: “I am very excited to join a dedicated and committed team, working together to tackle the current complex healthcare landscape. There is much for us to celebrate and also much for us to do given the rise in demand for mental health support, the national workforce shortages and the need to close the gap on health inequalities.

“I am particularly looking forward to meeting and working with all the service users, staff and partners across Norfolk and Suffolk systems.”

Kathryn Ellis has been successful in becoming the substantive Director of Strategy and Partnerships. Kathryn has worked in a variety of commissioning and provider roles across Norfolk, Suffolk, and Cambridgeshire. Those roles were in acute hospital, primary and community care and mental health.

Kathryn, who has lived in Norfolk for many years, joined the Trust in May 2021 to lead work on refreshing the Trust Strategy and build work with Integrated Care Systems and the East of England provider collaborative.

Kathryn said: “There is so much those who are passionate about good mental health care and people can do by working together. Our Trust and our local health and care systems will be able to make services simpler by continuing to work with service users, carers, staff and partners. I am so happy to be a part of that.”

Zoë Billingham, Chair of NSFT, said “These two exceptional women will bring even more focus on how our services operate and how we build our partnerships. We have plenty to do to improve on behalf of service users, their carers and those people who work with us to make sure people get care. I am delighted that Thandie and Kathryn are joining our dedicated and forward looking top team”
