Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust (NSFT) will welcome new Governors who will support the organisation’s ongoing improvement work across services.

The Trust’s council of governors are elected to represent the views of patients, public, staff and partners and help shape the future of the specialist mental health and learning disability services provided by the organisation. They hold NSFT’s Non-Executive Directors to account for the performance of the Board, and act as a key link between the Trust and the communities it serves.

Nine of the Trust’s 23 council seats were recently up for election, and the results have been declared.

Elected candidates are:

  • Public Governors (Norfolk): Nick Fulcher, Roger Mason, Paul Harrison, Abbie Kampta
  • Public Governors (Suffolk): Paula Fox, Jackie Horstead, Dan Pennock
  • Service User Governor (Norfolk): Dan Price
  • Staff Governor: Jenny Carlisle

Zoë Billingham, NSFT’s Chair, said: “Across NSFT we are committed to consistently delivering safe, excellent care for all those who need us. Our governors play a crucial and respected role in our Trust and their valuable contributions are more important than ever as we continue our work to deliver improvements to services across Norfolk and Suffolk.

“I look forward to welcoming and working with new members and thank our former governors for all the time and effort they have dedicated to supporting NSFT over their tenures.”

Howard Tidman, Lead Governor, said: “Congratulations to all those who have been elected. I am really looking forward to working with all our governors, whose input adds so much to our work offering specialist mental health services.”

Jean Clark, NSFT’s Company Secretary, added: "Our new newly elected governors bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Trust and will be great additions to the council as the Trust moves into the next phase of its improvement work.”

Elections take place every year for those governors who have come to the end of their term, or who have stopped being a governor during the previous year. They are usually elected for three-year terms.

New governors will begin their term of office on 1 February 2023.

Voting was opened to the Trust membership last month and closed on 8 December 2022.

The results were declared by Civica Election Services, the independent company that runs the elections for the Council.

Only members of NSFT can be governors and vote in governor elections.
